Merchant’s Log: Second Entry

Merchant’s Log: February 10 http://www.thetreasuremerchants.com

Evening

Second Entry

A glorious day it was indeed! The merchant brig I had seen earlier on the horizon brought wonderful new treasures! It was like Christmas unwrapping each precious one and placing them, just so, around the shop.
I was visited by several neighbors today, out enjoying the spring like weather. They came into the shop laughing and smiling, and brought with them such an infectious mood that I found myself smiling incessantly back at them.

One dear lady, a lovely blonde woman, asked if I carried artisan teas. I had just the thing!
I had been brewing some Mighty Leaf vanilla bean tea, and offered her a cup. The delight on her kind face was such a pleasure to see. Her daughter was with her, and remarked that it was her birthday today. The kind lady sneaked a pack of Victorian era Scatter Garden flower seeds, and asked to purchase them when the young girl looked away.

I handed her the package covertly, “Thank you Ms. Van Buren, it was a pleasure”.
And indeed it was, as I saw her give the seeds to her just outside on the bench, and the young girl was delighted. “It’s nice to see young people interested in Gardening” I thought to myself, what a lovely, thoughtful gift.

A young couple stopped by the shop today, a fireman and his wife. They loved the Castelbel Home fragrance from Portugal. They were so in love with each other too, it was evident in their every movement! I recommended to them the chocolate and wine pairing set, as well, for the upcoming day of celebration of St. Valentine.

I met a young man who purchased a recording of music from Vietnam for his lovely wife, and another kind lady who purchased one for her daughter’s birthday. I gift wrapped it for her with love and attention, as that is my favorite occupation, and sent it off with her.

Let’s see, an African coil basket, a Chinese theatrical and Arabic music for a gentleman, olive oil soap and rose water for another couple, English Rose bath gel for a beautiful young lady, a set of Moroccan tea glasses, Venezuela dark chocolate, more English rose……….

Yes, I would say it was a glorious day!

I am just closing up shop now. The day flew by with so many interesting guests. It’s late, so I am taking the shorter route home. As I blow out the candle by the door, I look around in the fading light.
Sounds of laughter from the day remain, fragrances all mingled in a happy combination, and as I look, I spy the special package still on the shelf.

Hmm, the mysterious “Stranger” never arrived.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring?…………………….

I’ve just read both of these entries, and I must say I have never seen this before! First of all, I loved this story type blog. I was so mesmerized by it that I didn’t realize at first that these product you mentioned are actually the ones you carry in your store!
I know because I am one of the customers you mentioned. It really makes it seem more real to me that my tea glasses came from this shop by the sea.
This is a really good idea. Keep up the good work, and hurry and post another blog so I can see who this stranger is!! I’m hooked!

    Dear Merchant,
Oh how I love your site. What a clever, unique, and rich (and I might add, one of a kind) world you have created for your suppliers to bring their wares, and your customers to shop in. Having been a merchant and a buyer myself, I can truly appreciate what you are doing here.

Through your delightful and capturing story telling, you have managed to weave your bard’s magic on me, and I find myself daily checking your site, not only to see what new treasure has arrived, but how or if it was entangled in some adventure to get there.
I feel like I am experiencing the mist of the ocean on my face as you describe standing there looking out to sea.

I am carried right along in my imagination as you describe your comings and goings in and around your shop. I can almost hear your door bell, smell the soaps, coffees, teas and so on. Your description of your encounters, and rapport with others, your loving attention to your shop and surroundings, really does make me feel as though I have been there with you, meeting some of the ship merchants, climbing the zig zag stairs, and hearing the cry of the seagull.
And especially, when I read some hint of a shopper that purchased a particular item (or items) that I know could only have been me.

Thank you Treasure Merchants, for making my online shopping a whole new and wonderful experience. Thank you, for bringing me along into your adventures.
And thank you, for making each of my purchases…a treasure.
    Yours Truly,
    Darlene Arenberg

    Dear Merchant Shop Owner,
I was just sitting here sipping my cup of Mighty Leaf Tea (Organic Spring Jasmine, Mmm!), a recent acquisition from your shop, and reading your account of the days activities. What a joy it was to hear about your day. Between the lovely fragrance of my tea and your description of your surroundings and interactions, the warmth and ambiance of your shop washed over me, leaving me feeling calm and content. You have a lovely shop, and carry quality products. It’s a pleasure doing buisiness with you.

    Sincerely, Cindy (a.k.a. Stranger)

P.S. I was so awed by your shop, while I was there, that I forgot to ask for a package you were holding for me, marked: “Stranger”. :)

P.P.S. Just kidding about being the “Stranger”. I was just hoping to lay claim to that chocolate! I’ve already tried some of that chocolate and know that whoever left it must think alot of this “Stranger”. They’re in for a treat!

    Dear Darlene,

    Greetings,

I am most truly honored by your entry. You are very eloquent in your descriptions as well, and have made me wonder if we have ever met?

You seem to know me and my part of the world so well, I would suspect you to have frequented the shoppe yourself, and have experienced the thrill of seeing the merchant ships’ sails on the horizon, and waiting while they glided into port, heavy laden with treasure!

I know that should my pen ever fail me, I will come to you to write my entries for me!

Untill then, I will meet you down on the docks….

    Dear Cindy,

    Greetings!

I thank you most kindly for your comments! The joys of running the shoppe and discovering each new treasure are not to be taken for granted!
Each new day brings new excitement and adventure, and brings me face to face with those who come into my shoppe. For me it is an honor and priviledge.

Now…let me just arrange these just so….there now, I’ll sit and have a cup of that tea with you……mmmmm….and here…… have another chocolate.
